H2O 3rd edition Montreal

H2O is back to make you live a unique experience. Our main goal consists on bringing artists from a contemporary background and artists from the street dance scene together. This event is for dancers who wish to broaden their horizons, express and share their passion for this art.
H2O is a competition based on a concept well known in the street dance culture: The Battle. Although we want to encourage sharing rather than confrontation, judging will be based on several creative principals related to both dance scenes.
Dancers will have to improvise but each team can still create small routines.
Artists will be judged by experimented and open-minded professionals from the contemporary and street world. Their judgement will be based on 5 criteria and creative principles related to both dance scenes. This event is a great opportunity to gain visibility, be evaluated by professionals and have the chance to win a scholarship (financed by our sponsors).
At the end of the event, each team will receive a booklet with all the judges’ commentary. This will allow every single dancer to improve by working on their strong and weak points. *Dancers can compete with or without shoes.

Here are the 5 criterions in which you will be judged on:
• SPACE: using the global space (the dance surface) and exploring different levels (floor, middle, top and aerial).
• BODY: using a varied vocabulary (eg: circular, linear and angular movements) as well as the artists general technique and dance knowledge: virtuosity, control and complexity of the movement.
• ENERGY: using different energy levels (eg: stop and go, slow, dynamic, fluid, etc.)
• CREATIVITY/ORIGINALITY
• INTERPRETATION: connecting with the music, your partner, the crowd and yourself.

H2O is also a fundraising event.
This year we are supporting a Charity called Homes of Joy which strive to provide orphaned children with the support needed to cope with both the immediate and long-term consequences of HIV/AIDS, conflict, and poverty. We need your support in order to help Homes of Joy achieve this beautiful goal.
Proceeds will assist Homes of Joy in providing a high quality education for the girls at Nyumba Yanga Orphanage in Lusaka, Zambia by supporting the costs of tuition fees, uniforms, textbooks, and school supplies. Nyumba Yanga Orphanage is home to 54 double-orphaned girl children between the ages of 4 and 17. You are helping to ensure that the girls at Nyumba Yanga are able to attend schools in the private school system; opening doors for their futures.
